I'd say it is pretty safe to assume that John thought the events he describes in revalation will happen within his lifetime.

Jesus is coming soon. No one knows when exactly. Only God the Father knows. But Jesus told us that just as we know spring is near when the fig tree begins to blossom, so there will be signs that his return is near. The main question is, are you ready?
