I would say it might help to read it in context:
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written °, Eye hath not seen, nor ° ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. God's wisdom refered to in verse 7 is his plan for salvation. This was his own eternal secret that no one else could fathom, but in this new age of salvation he has graciously revealed it to us. Verses 9 & 10 (as Deut correctly pointed out) is taken from Isaiah.... and I believe that Paul uses this as an example of how the "new age" has changed things: God was "hidden", but is now "revealed" in Christ. |

I agree with both Scott and your pastor.
But then we have some heaven here on earth. ![]() Heaven is being in the presence of God. The closer we are to God through Jesus, the more of his divine nature is revealed to us right here, and right now.

Here a translation in laymans terms, maybe this will help clarify the message. 1 Corinthians 2: 7-12
7 God's wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of his purposes. You don't find it lying around on the surface. It's not the latest message, but more like the oldest - what God determined as the way to bring out his best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene. 8 The experts of our day haven't a clue about what this eternal plan is. If they had, they wouldn't have killed the Master of the God-designed life on a cross. 9 That's why we have this Scripture text: No one's ever seen or heard anything like this, Never so much as imagined anything quite like it - What God has arranged for those who love him. 10 But you've seen and heard it because God by his Spirit has brought it all out into the open before you. 11 Who ever knows what you're thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God - except that he not only knows what he's thinking, 12 but he lets us in on it. God offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us.
