yes that is true , this brings to mind the scripture in(Deuteronomy 32:5) They have acted ruinously on their own part; They are not his children, the defect is their own. A generation crooked and twisted!

I don't want to speak for may, but being a JW, I believe may would be using the New World Translation.

Now on to the topic, just before the verse in question comes this.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up. 11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of persons ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be kindled and dissolved, and the elements will melt with fire!

2 Peter 3:10-12

Note it says the heavens will be dissolved and the elements will melt. To me this implies that the physical universe (the heavens and the earth) will be gone, to be replaced by? I don't know, but I am pretty sure it will be better than the one we are in now

I just want to make one clarification on my belief, I do not believe that heaven, as in pearly gates, will get destroyed, but the heavens, as in the stars/plantes/galaxies out there. It has been my experience that when the Bible says heavens, it refers to the "outer space".

Mr Emu brings up a good point. Heavens is usually refering to the celestial heavens, which would be different than the Kingdom of Heaven. I wonder of there is a translation here that clarifies a difference between the two. I think I will study on this.

If heaven is eternal, then it is NOW. I am already experiencing heaven here on earth.
