Jesus says to the apostle Peter "get behind me satan" when Peter states "this will not happen to you Lord" after Jesus tells the apostles that he, Jesus, will be betrayed/captured/killed and rise to heaven.

The extent of God's responsibility for evil is that He chose to create a world in which moral evil was a possibility, but not a necessity. The rest, of course, is history. Like darkness, which is the absence of light, evil is the absence of what is good.

i dont think the lord was stating peter was one of satans but that in a moment of weakness peter succumbed to human frailty,remember the apostles were not endowed with the power of the holy ghost but were just normal human beings,even judas was not one of satans until the devil entered his heart to betray jesus,as for modern society now well it says this world is taken captive at satans will and does as he commands so for those who know not the gospel of christ then the answer is yes to your question
