Is the bible divinely inspired? (salvation, church, scriptures, Holy Spirit)

I personally feel that it is possible that the authors of the bible were inspired by their belief in their god to write it, but I do not believe it is the "word of god". I don't believe a god would directly or indirectly "write" a book that is basically instructions to save our souls and then let us interpret, change, remove, add, or corrupt it in anyway. That is unless that god were a sadistic tyrant that use humans for the entertainment value... But this is just my opinion...

But, with all due respect, that is not at all true. You trust the unknown authors of the Torah to the extent that you're willing to assert that the Midianites deserved their purported fate - as did most of the Worlds biota during your biocidal Flood. But it is true. God inspired the Bible and the Spirit helps me to understand it. So even if men are involved, God is able to work through them.

If I trusted only in myself I would be an atheist and in no need of a divine perspective. How do I know? God has revealed it to me. The Spirit of Lord is wisdom. It will not fight you, but if you let it, it will guide you. The scriptures have made many promises, observations and predictions. I have yet to see one prove false. In the end, my destiny is my own decision, just as yours belongs to you. Only I can decide what is right for me, just as only YOU can decide what is right for you. We will have to compare notes on a much later date to see who was right.

Why would I have to? If the Spirit is my Counselor and Teacher, then he will make it plain as I need it to be made plain.

The Gospels are not about "dot and tildes". They are about God's love. A love misunderstood by MOST, and embraced by even fewer.

If you are saying that God personally revealed to you that the Bible is true, then you are trusting in yourself. That is, you are confident that you can receive God's personal revelation to you that the Bible is true... you are trusting in yourself and yourself alone to receive from God this truth concerning Scripture. Somehow you are able to psychologically sift through all of the "noise" and clearly hear this message from God.

IF God really revealed this to you, then you are a prophet and should be revered as such. Or perhaps we should refer to you as "NetDoc of Arc."

God tries to reveal his will to everyone. Not everyone wants to hear it. Some hearts are soft, and some are hard. He uses many, many tools to accomplish this. Sometimes a saint, and sometimes a sinner. His goal is for EVERYONE to come to their senses and see him for who he is!

NetDoc, your belief that the Bible is inspired based on the fact that your "heart" feels it to be is based on culture, largely. Were you born in a country where you never heard of the Bible, let alone had a chance to read it, or decide if it was divinely inspired, would you believe it was when you found one, based solely on your "heart"?

I had trouble with this, before I converted. Why would a God, especially a perfect God, use men to write a book? Why not just make the book appear? Why use a book at all? There are plenty of superior methods. Hell, if he had dropped a computer with every possible translation of the bible on it (powered by Linux, of course), that would have been swell (not saying this is reasonable, however. A "Palm Pilot" would have been ok too).

I bnase my beliefs on what "feels" right as well. But I use logic to determine what is true and what isn't. Thus, I do not believe that their were wars of Gods and men over Ireland.

Surely you don't believe in the bible as a literal text?

2. ANOTHER CONTRADICTION IN THE BIBLE..IS THE "EITHER THE WORLD WILL PERISH OR NOT"? BOTH CANNOT TAKE PLACE SIMULTANEOUSLY..IT IS ILLOGICAL
3. IN THE BOOK OF JOB..THE BIBBLE SAYS THAT THE PILLARS OF THE HEAVEN WILL TREMBLE...BUT THE HEAVEN IS WITHOUT ANY PILLARS..DON'T U SEE IT. ALSO IT SAYS THAT THE EARTH HAS GOT PILLARS. I DOUBT ANY ASTROLOGIST WILL BELIEVE THAT IN THE PRESENT TIMES.
4. IN THE BOOK OF GENESIS IT IS SAID THAT GOD HAS GIVE U ALL THE HERB BEARIN SEEDS AND FRUIT BEARING TREES AND THESE ARE ALL EDIBLE(ALL LIVING THINGS ON EARTH ARE EDIBLE). 6. BIBBLE ALSO SAYS FOR DISINFECTING A HOUSE FROM THE PLAGUE OF LEPROSY. IT SAYS TAKE TWO BIRDS, KILL THEM, TAKE THEIR BLOOD, SPRINKLE THE HOUSE WITH IT. I THINK EVERY1 BY NOW KNOWS THAT BLOOD IS A MEDIUM FOR GROWTH OF DISEASE CAUSING ORGANISMS THEN HOW CAN ONE PREVENT OTHER DISEASES FROM IT??
7. THE BOOK LEVITICUS SAYS THAT AFTER A MOTHER GIVES BIRTH TO A CHILD THE "AFTER BIRTH"(REMAINS OF PREGNANCY) IS UNHYGIENIC(WHICH IS TRUE)..BUT
a. WHEN SHE GIVES BIRTH TO A MALE CHILD SHE IS UNCLEAN FOR 40 DAYS
b. WHEN SHE GIVES BIRTH TO A FEMALE CHILD SHE IS UNCLEAN FOR 80 DAYS..
