Arrow I can have more than one wife and concubines too!

The Christian world is wrong. No where in the Bible does it state that you must have only one wife and no mistresses. Or am I wrong? I am not. Jesus doesn't state how many wives at the marriage feast. And Moses just talks about woman and man in Genesis. Jesus just repeats what Moses stated. "The two become one flesh". But that doesn't mean the only two. The Tanach is the same. It doesn't state you must have one wife only. It doesn't talk about NOT having mistresses either.

Big example is King Solomon. Prove me wrong now.

Not every law is based on biblical belief...or so I've been told in this very forum. Do we get to reverse this....one wife with several husbands?

I'm not sure what my wife would think of that one; I think I take up enough of her time up by her needing to tell me to do everything her way.

The Bible says a lot of stuff I disagree with. But no, nowhere does it specify monogamy for males.

Does it specify monogamy for females, standing_on_one_foot?

Surely having a mistress is adultery and is therefore not allowed in Christianity? It is also sex outside of marriage which is another thing I thought was disallowed, or at least highly discouraged.

I believe it does, yes (if a wife of someone is sleeping with another guy, I think they both get put to death, although I'd have to look up the specific laws).

Mistresses, if they're married to someone else, are off limits. I'm pretty sure extra-marital sex is mostly off-limits (but not having multiple wives).

The poll, by the way, doesn't include my answer, but it would be that I do think polygamy/cheating on one's spouse is wrong, but not because the Bible disapproves (in the same way I think slavery is wrong, even though the Bible doesn't disapprove).

I was only asking tongue in cheek. I love my husband but I can't imagine having to keep track of more than one. Personally, I'm thinking having a few more wives in the family might be nice. Then I can shoo him off to one of the other ones while I get some stuff done.

Interestinglythough, I have found one reference to monogamy in the bible:-
1 Timothy 3:12 Let the deacons be the husband of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
but nothing to suggest that women may have more than one husband.
