Hi.
I've always been very interested in dreams. I started a dream journal and for a time I was able to control my dreams. I also tried to write down dreams form my youth and I noticed that they were mostly nightmares. I realized that I hadn't had a nightmare for a long time. Two years later and I've started to notice I'm having nightmares almost every week. Someone is trying to kill me, someone close to me dies. Someone is chacing me. Should I see this as a sign that I'm doing something wrong in my life that I wasn't doing two years ago? That was my first thought. But my brother told me that when you are doing good, evil tries to push you back down. Are there any writings supporting my brothers explanation?

Baha'u'llah tells us about the importance of dreams..
One of the created phenomena is the dream. Behold how many secrets are deposited therein, how many wisdoms treasured up, how many worlds concealed. ~ Baha'u'llah, The Seven Valleys, p. 32 But to respond to your question... "...when you are doing good, evil tries to push you back down. Are there any writings supporting my brothers explanation?" We are I suppose sometimes tested more when we are closer to the Faith I believe.. Not until man is tried doth the pure gold distinctly separate from the dross. Torment is the fire of test wherein the pure gold shineth resplendently and the impurity is burned and blackened. At present thou art, praise be to God, firm and steadfast in tests and trials and art not shaken by them. ~ Abdu'l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 120 - Art ![]()

dreams are often seen as representations of your subconcious trying to procces what you have seen in the day or unresolved memory's
so ask yourself: Do you have a huge emotional investment in someone or something? did you watch any graphic content? were you ever in extreem danger? do you have suppressed memory's what kind of sleeping conditions do you have? do you have any guilt, or something you consider yourself guilty of? |
