The Baha'is believe that the Bab is the Mihdi (and also the Qa'im), and Baha'u'llah is the return of Christ.

As Al-Qur'an says: bring evidence if you are truthful...

It's true Baha'is accept the Bab, Siyyid Ali Muhammad as the return of the Imam Mehdi or Twelfth Imam in Shiah prophecy:

According to Shi'ah sources,

Sa'id ibn-i Jabir reported the following Hadith from Ibn-i Abbas, who heard it from Prophet Muhammad Who said:

"My successors after Me are God's proofs for the people of the earth. They are twelve. First one of them my brother and last of them will be my child. They asked: O Apostle of God who is your brother? He said Ali-ibn Abu Talib. They asked who is your child? He said: He is Mahdi who will fill the earth with justice, even if it is full of injustice and wretchedness. I swear to God Who made Me His Messenger even if one day is left from the age of the world, God will lenghten that day to the extent that My child Mahdi will become manifest. Then Issa [Maseeh], the Spirit of God descends (the Return of Christ] from heaven and pray behind Him."

There was a thousand years from the disappearance of the twelfth Imam in 260 AH to the Declaration of the Bab in 1260 AH or 1844 AD.

Many Christians in the United States and Western Europe believed Christ would return in 1844.

We also believe the Bab as well as Baha'u'llah and Prophet Muhammad were the Return of Christ... as we accept that Christ was a Manifestation of God and that God manifested Himself in Prophet Muhammad, the Bab and later Baha'u'llah, so the Divine Sun can be said to have returned in each case.

The Bab was the Qa'im while Baha'u'llah was the Qayyum.
