More importantly, he was a Persian thinker! Most of the so-called Islamic thinkers and scientists were Persians, and now Arabs are desperately trying to label them as Arabs or simply as Muslims to avoid naming their ethnicity.

I think al-Ghazali would have said that ethnicity is a rather petty thing to squabble about.
