Well, technically, yes you are a creationist, since a creationist is simply anyone who believes that god created the universe, life, etc etc. But I think the term "creationist" when used to refer to the evolution vs. creation debate really refers to those who believe in the pseudoscience of "creation science": those who believe that Genesis and big bang/evolutionary theory are in conflict and who reject the latter in favor of the former. Millions of Christians and non-Christians believe there is a Creator of the universe and that scientific theories such as the theory of evolution do not conflict with belief in a Creator. Then I suppose in this context I am not a creationist. Doesn't that make things more cofusing though? As if we didn't have enough things to clarify.

It is somewhat confusing. The problem is that the contemporary evolution vs. creation debate is not usually divided between those who believe in god creating the world and those who don't, but rather between those who embrace evolution/big bang theory and those who don't. If there are "creationists" who embrace evolution/big bang theory (such as yourself), by what name shall we call those who explicitly evolution/big bang theory and oppose its teaching in schools and/or support teaching their theology in publicly-funded science classes? What do we call that specific group of "creationists" on the opposing side of the issue?
