Are there Aliens? (ritual, Earth, beliefs, followers, choice)

I noticed that there is a section for Alien-based religions, but it seems fairly empty and non-active. Considering the recent press on this issue and the rise in Alien-based faiths, I wanted to post a poll to learn the opinions on this subject from people in this forum.

It's good to see that soemone started a thread here. I do believe that there are aliens. Earth amongst the other planets is like a grain of sand within the sand from all the beaches from around the world combined. It would be a tremendous waste of space if we are the only intelligent life forms in the universe. I have heard of U.F.O. sightings. Even I think I saw one once. I saw a light rise up into the air life a helicopter would. It passed over the house but unlike a chopper, it made no noise whatsoever. Okay, so now some of you will think I'm crazy but whatever. I read about an alien based religion in the newspaper. Their site is www.rael.org. They say that we were all created by aliens and that there is no God. The first thing I thought when I read that was - who created the first alien then?

I think that if there are aliens, they are the peaceful ones. People have sighted UFOs but how come aliens don't show themselves? I think it's because they know that we will be hostile and will want to lock them up, experiment with them etc. We can't even get along with each other moreover for aliens! We have a history of intolerance for anyone different from us eg. racism.

I believe that there is likely alien life, quite possibly even alien sentience and alien civilization. I see no reason why we should be the only ones in this universe. I am, however, rather skeptical about UFOs and belief in the former does not lead to belief in the latter. I simply have a hard time believing in either benign aliens who would be content simply to watch over us (after all, when we find a new territory, we tend to colonise it pretty aggressively) or the sort of slightly aggressive aliens who abduct people for no apparent reason. After all, if they're advanced enough to get here, we're probably not much more advanced than ants to them. I suspect that those UFOs that don't turn out to be something like the weather, hallucinations and the like will all turn out to be experimental military aircraft, so I went for the second option, though I don't mean that UFOs were deliberately created as such by any government.

Oh I just remembered. I saw on TV that if aliens travel through time, they do it through worm holes. That way, they don't have to travel for millions of light years. A worm hole provides a shortcut through time. Too cool!

I dunno about others, but I can't see how it would affect my religious beliefs, considering Baha'i Writings do have a passage that says there's life other places than Earth.

I think we need to figure out how to co-exist with each other first.

I was trying to keep the poll simple. Many more people have witnessed UFOs than have reported physically seeing aliens.

Booko, I was not aware that the Baha'i beliefs included non-terrestrial beings. That is fascinating. I am aware that Eastern religions may be more open to alien encounters. And it seems as if the Catholic Church is preparing their followers for such a time as well.
