Theists often think that agnosticism is just a practice of ignorance or without knowledge.
But I think they are confusing something that is "unknowable" with "not knowing". The two definitions are completely different. The agnostics just prefer to have something more concrete than just accepting something on blind faith. And in the sense, agnostics comes closer to atheism, as being almost as "faithless" as atheists.

Anyway, I could possibly be theist agnostic. Or an atheist agnostic. I'm not too sure. It really depends on what part of religion we are talking about. If we are only talking about the religious teaching of moral, ethic, compassionate, wisdom/philosophy, etc, then I could be a theist agnostic. Some of these teaching are universal, and not necessarily religious in nature. But if we are talking about Creation, miracles, angel visitations, demon possession, the existence of god, Satan, angels, heaven and hell, then I more like an atheist agnostic. I need more evidence in order to believe in such thing. So I would guess I fall into a bit of both definitions of agnosticism. And that's fine with me, because I like such paradox.

You're getting knowledge and belief mixed up, you can believe in something and not know if it's true. Example: You can believe there is fish in a pond, but if you don't catch any does that make you wrong? Or does it mean that you suck at fishing?

Theist Agnostics are people who believe in a deity, but are willing to admit to themselves that they could be wrong. That they're running on blind faith. Most religions don't promote this as it's a weakness of faith. If you think you could be wrong then you're not totally faithful.
Really though I would rather have no answer to some questions and search for an answer then to take a spiritual answer that could be ludicrious and fictitious. Sometimes you just don't have the answers and you have to deal with it. |

Welcome to RF, Truls.
I have never thought of theist agnostics in this way. I agreed with your last paragraph, about seeking the answer yourself rather than relying on answer already there. Part of the fun is the journey, not just its destination.
