Newly born agnostic (ritual, Deist, atheist, spiritual, worship)

I was born and baptized an orthodox christian. I was taught to believe in God blindly and I did so in my early childhood. I guess the first thing that pushed me to stop believing in God was rock music. () ...but that wasn't enough. the force was strong in me. Then, when my father died I stoped to ask God 'why?' ...but I got no answer, as probably many of you didn't. In anger and despair I started worshiping satan (just to spite God) but that didn't last long. Atheism began soon afterwards but...my belief was to strong. I searched for a religion, because I felt the need to believe in something and being an agnostic was just perfect for me. I believed in a higher power, but I didn't want to name it or hold it responsible for anything bad that happens or thank it for any good thing. I am finally at peace

First, welcome to Religious Forums. You will meet an extremely diverse group of people here - everything from Theists that argue against Intelligent Design to Atheists that argue in support of spirituality.

Second, welcome to Agnosticism. After reading your initial post, I am a little confused. Are you saying that you are an agnostic that believes in a higher power? If that is the case, you might still be a Theist or Deist of some type. Then again, I'm not certain that I fully understood your position.

I am confused....for what I read about agnoticism, it's believers do not refuse to think that there might be a higher power, as they do not refuse to think that there might not be. Am I wrong?

You are on the right path - but just to clear it up for you, try this link to Wikipedia. It is an online Encyclopedia that covers a wide variety of subject matter.

You sound like a deist to me Lady Crimson.

A Deist is someone who believes a higher power exists but does not attempt to categorize or define that power, usually because they don`t believe that power can be defined by man.

An agnostic is really an Atheist in the closet.

I`m just kidding TVOR!!

An agnostic is a person who doesn`t have a belief in a higher power but doesn`t state a disbelief in a higher power.

I am very sorry about your father. Welcome to the forums. I hope you find enlightenment here. When you asked God why and got no answer you may not have gotten an answer but you did gain information..that too is an enlightment and I am happy that you found that enlightment despite the circumstances. Aparently i made a mistake. Upsy! Well, I guess i am a deist after all. I hate to be categorized in any way, even by my religion but I guess it's not that bad.
