Hi! I couldn't sleep tonight, and this thought just kind of popped into my head. This is a question that people of all faiths believing in a higher power sometimes come across. I thought it would be cool to make a thread with a compilation of uplifting explanations, quotes, scriptures, ideas, and etc. from everyone who has anything to offer. This is most definately not supposed to become a debate. ![]() Sometimes God/ the Lord/ Allah/ Heavenly Father/ the God & Goddess... (well you get my point) respond to prayer (or whatever ), by withholding an answer when it is offered. Why would He/ She do that?My quote is from Richard G. Scott: "He is our perfect father, He loves us beyond our capacity to understand. He knows what is best for us. He sees th eend from the beginning. He wants us to act to gain needed experience: When He answers yes, it is to give us confidence. When He answers no, it is to prevent error. When He witholds an answer, it is to have us grow through faith in Him, obedience to His commandments, and a willingness to act on truth. We are expected to assume accountability by acting on a decision that is consistent with His teachings without prior confirmation. We are not to sit passively waiting or to murmur because the Lord has not spoken. We are to act." (Is it okay for me to give permission for everyone to post here? I'm having trouble understanding the DIR (i think) rule, if not I'll edit it)

Hi!
I am constantly amazed that God even answers any of my/our prayers. It constantly amazes me that despite knowing my/our every thought, word and deed, God still loves us unconditionally and we are forgiven, that is in a constant state of having been forgiven all our sins forever. I know God answers our prayers. But God knows us who have placed our trust in Jesus, better than we know ourselves. He sees more than we, and knows what we really need and how to make it happen. Sometimes God does not remove us from a certain situation but rather uses it to change our heart so we may be more merciful, loving and gentle, as was Christ. Cheers! |

A better question might be, why are they ever answered?

Quote:
"Please God, give me more money." This prayer is not a statement of making more money, but is a statement coming from having no money. It is this that the universe says "yes" to. "I want a better job" This one is easy. When you say "I want a better job" the universe says "Yes". This is because the statement makes true the experience of wanting a better job! So "yes" is "yes! You DO want a better job" and you will experience wanting a better job. This is why you can never have anything you want. Or anything you need. A "correct" prayer should be one of gratitude. Thanking in advance for what you know to be true. I.e. "Thanks for giving me the means/opportunity for having more money." or "Thanks for the experience of having a better job". However, a statement like this cannot be used to manipulate god... You cannot say "thanks for this and that", and all the while being perfectly clear you do not have it, the universe can't be any more clear than you and thus produce it for you. It is a case of simply knowing. Anyways, more later....

I always wondered how to spell that! Thank you greatly.
As for the topic, no prayer has ever been answered by God. This would violate the reason for the earth and life to exist. It's just not about you. |
