Ah yes.

and they pray a-miss. (or... a-hit & a-miss) But really I do believe Luke is correct. Prayer IS always answered. It is the very nature of our personal realities to BE what we ourselves are "putting out". Your VERY LIFE... is a dynamic living prayer.

You are saying that the prayers of a believer are more likely to be answered than the prayers of a non-believer?

Prayers are always answered
some times we don't hear some time we don't want to hear sometimes we don't like the answer. some time we just don't notice, we are just too tied up in ourselves. Mostly we we ask when we should be thanking.

Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.

But you get exactly the same results when you pray to your toaster.
Your prayers are answered the same proportion of times. Prayers like world peace aren't answered. There is no difference between praying to God and praying to your toaster.

You will receive an answer to your prayer. ALL prayers that are of an inquisitive NATURE do not go unanswered. BE alert and listen. If you cannot listen or refuse to listen, ALL(WAYS) BE prepared to BE shown the answer through other stimuli. Answers to prayers come swiftly and assertively.
Do not BE ashamed or disappointed or regretful if your answers do not come out the way you have anticipated them. This is not the fault of GOD not caring or listening. This is the TRUTH that the prayer is not meant to BE, whether it is for you or someone else. There is a PURPOSE to ALL prayers and ALL thoughts. Mostly, the problem with the outcome of prayers is the inactivity of the person requesting the prayer. It ALL falls back on that old adage that "if you want something to happen you may have to make it happen yourself." Prayers are not wishes; there is no such thing as Santa Claus or genies, either. yum yum...) I am going to try and see this from an athiest perspective as best as I can for a sec. Why can't you say something about, maybe, hey ::lightbulb:: "One cannot have expectations when making a prayer, because (lets just say) there is really no force that is going to grant that prayer. So when these crazy people pray maybe it is something else that sways the outcome of the prayer. Maybe it is the positive energy generated from the person praying, which causes these outcomes to sway when the person cannot directly influence them. When the person praying can directly influence the outcome of the wish (i.e. a good wish would be "Heavenly Father please soften the heart of so-and-so, so that they will rise above their anger and feel happiness agian"), maybe it is the focusing of the mind through prayer that allows this person to act accordingly with their wish more-so than the norm. Then the persons stead-fastness and perseverance influences the outcome of the prayer or wish. It is entirely governed by the person and their actions toward achieving the wish." That would be a somewhat "uplifting" explanation, giving no credit to a higher power wouldn't it? Anyway, I don't know if I managed to pull that off or not. Let me know. But then after that, NO DEBATING!! ![]() Everyone else, thank you so much!! If someone is feeling "let down" for one reason or another, I'd like them to be able to get some measure of comfort from this thread. ![]()

I'm still not convinced. If it all comes from within us, then there'd be no need to pray to God.

Most people admire Jesus. Jesus prayed, sometimes all night, and taught others to pray. He thanked God before hand for hearing and answering his prayers. He did always the will of his Father so his Father always heard his prayers. He taught us to ask anything in his name and next sentence said to keep his commandments. Sometimes we do our own will and do not do what is right which hinders our prayers. Jesus was the perfect model for prayer. Everyone should try and see.
