the above is an article on ther persecutions faced by Iraqi Mandeans since the war began. many have had to flee their communities and the country to find safety in neighboring nations. i hope that even within this diaspora, the Mandeans who seek refuge around the world will be able to renew and continue their religious communities. http://altreligion.about.com/library...l_mandeism.htm http://www.rferl.org/featuresarticle...779e31e3c.html

One leaflet which Mandeans said had been distributed to homes in Baghdad gave this warning to both them and Christians (who form another of Iraq's minorities):And Shrub thinks an Iraqi democracy is a good idea. When the Iraqi people can control their own government, what kind of government will they have?

I met an Iraqi in an airplane while travelling from Malaysia. He was looking for a job there but he couldn't find one. I sat beside him and he was so nice, he told me that he was a Shi'i but became Sunni later on. He said that he couldn't pray at the same mosque for many times a day when he was in Iraq. He must go to many mosques in one day to save his life. Once a car exploded beside him and he barly could live from that accedent and recover then flee from Iraq.
He told me that most of the time, it doesn't matter what you are or what religion you hold. It's dangerous for all. He is living now in Jordan by the way.

Truth- you are right, of course. the situation is terrible there for everyone, Muslim and otherwise. i do wish that America would open its doors to refugees coming in. this is our fault, and we should be willing to welcome and support those fleeing the civil war, should people want to come here.
