New Dan Brown Book (Latter-Day Saints, Mormonism, church, catholic, heaven)

An article in the Religion/Ethics section of today's "Deseret News" starts out:

"Dan Brown, author of "The DaVinci Code," is hard at work on antoher thriller. This time, he says, the book will explore the inner world of the Masons and the Mormons.

I'm sure it will be a blockbuster filled with symbols and assassins and sultry seductresses.

I'm the sure Masons and Mormons can't wait."

During all the hype over "The DaVinci Code" and the Catholic Church's response to it, I've been saying, "Oh, for crying out loud! It's a novel. Get over it." Now, it looks like the shoe's going to be on the other foot. When Mormonism's ties to Freemasonry are exaggerated, sensationalized and misrepresented, it's going to be tough for us Latter-day Saints who loved "The DaVinci Code" to shrug it off and not get too awfully worked up over it.

I've heard about this but it's all speculation because Dan Brown came and looked at the Salt Lake Temple a few months back. No one really knows if there will be a Mormon connection. They only know that the book will explore Masonry in the US Gov't.

I hope you're right, Jonny, but somehow I can't imagine Dan Brown visited Temple Square strictly as a tourist. He's too smart to pass up a good opportunity to make a buck. Can't you just imagine the heyday he'd have with the subject of Freemasonry and Mormonism!

never read the Davinci Code but the movie was crap...why would anyone get upset over such a crap thing?

whatever dan puts out we should all keep in mind that it's fiction, nothing more nothing less

Well, there are some Mason symbols on the Salt Lake Temple. I'm sure that's where the connection in the book will be (if there is one).

Yes, but we all know that, but there are some people out there, that like with the Da Vinci Code will think differently..

yeah...but all their dog's ain't barkin' either...

i think what's important is what RF does which is offer real eduation about the faiths, especially in face of stuff like Davinci Code
