I don't know much about the beliefs of the LDS, but what are their beliefs when it comes to the afterlife?

Okay. We start out with death. After you die, your body dies, but your spirit doesn't. Your spirit goes to the spirit world. The spirit world has two halves: "Paradise" and "The Spirit Prison." Paradise is for the people who knew the gospel of christ and did a good job living it. The spirit prison is for those who either didn't know the gospel or did a bad job living it (I'm pretty sure). People in Paradise spend their time making missionary trips to the people in the Spirit Prison, so that everybody, regardless of where or when they were born, will have a chance to hear and either accept or reject Christ's message.
In the spirit world, we will be a lot like we are now, but without bodies. We will have the same wants, needs, desires, etc. A person who likes basketball will still like basket ball. A person who was addicted to gambling will still be addicted to gambling (which would kind of suck, because I don't think they have casinos in the spirit world). You will also still be subject to the same temptations as you are subject to here. Then comes Christ. When he comes, there will be a thousand year reign. Bad people will spend this thousand years in what most people think of when they think of hell. They will be punished for their sins and be made to feel the burden of their sins. Good people will spend the time on earth with christ. I'm not sure what will be going on, but I know some will be temple work (baptising those who died before getting baptised, sealing families together for time and eternity, etc.). Then comes the final resurection. The people who were both good people and members of Christ's church will be resurected into the celestial glory. The good people who were just a little confused (atheists, catholics, stuff like that) will get a place in the terrestrial glory. The people who spent the 1000 years in hell will get resurected to the telestial glory. The truly bad people, those who knew without a doubt that Christ was King and that God lives, yet who still chose to work against him (Satan and his followers and anybody in this life who had awesome, true knowledge about christ and knowinly worked against him) will spend eternity in outer darkness. That was a fairly simplified version. Any questions?
