A comment in another thread got me thinking. How much of an emphasis is put on the House of Israel in the various religions that are in the category of Abrahamic Beliefs?
To get things started I'll mention some points from my church regarding Israel and the 12 tribes. - When members receive their patriarchal blessings they are told what tribe of Israel they belong to - Many hymns mention Israel, such as "Israel, Israel God is Calling," "Ye Elder's of Israel," "Reedemer of Israel," etc. - Israel and the House of Israel is a prominent theme in the Book of Mormon - Missionary work is commonly referred to as the "Gathering of the House of Israel" - We frequenly discuss the Abrahamic Covenant and its relavance in our lives. As members of the House of Israel, we consider ourselves a covenant people. I'm sure there are more things I could mention, but this is just a sample. Is the House of Israel a theme in your religion? Do you think it should be important? What is taught regarding the house of Israel in your church? Since we are all under this category, I thought it would be interesting to discuss our roots. Hopefully someone finds this interesting besides me. ![]() |

God promised Abraham children as countless as stars of the sky (Genesis 22:17). We Christians beleive we are the children of Abraham by faith. That he beleived without seeing, and had faith in God even when things got tough. Jesus, the Messiah, allows us to enter the covenant family. As into a New Covenant, which is by the name of Jesus Christ. The accomplisher of law and prophecy.

Well, i can sense from the tone of the thread that its more about Judaism and Christianity than other Abrahamic beliefs.
Anyway, as its offecially in the general Abrahamic forum so i'll give it a shot. ![]() According to the bible, Jesus was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, thats why Christianity depend so much in these issues. In Islam, we know that the sons of Israel are the most people whom God sent prophets to, but they killed so many of them as they tried to kill Jesus Christ. The early house of Israel were real believers but they failed later on to keep the covenant, thats why God sent Jesus to them and his dosciples recieved the sacred gift from God. Later on, God sent the last prophet, Mohammed peace be upon him to revive the belief in him and as a mercy for human beings who were in darkness. There is alot of things to be said regarding this issue but this is what i can think of right now. |

It's only because those are the religions that responded. I'm interested in hearing about it from all sides.
