I'd like you to take the following hypothetical situation seriously but it's not meant to cause offense... Its specifically aimed at Jews, Christians and Muslims.
In the near future our planet is visited by a race of extra-terrestrial beings, these aliens claim to be the elohim of the OT and so apparently are the God of the Jews, Christians and Muslims. They say they speeded up mankind's evolution as part of a scientific/social experiment. Religious leaders obviously doubt them and ask them to prove they are elohim, the aliens recreate all the miricles of the OT from the burning bush and the parting of the red sea to a great flood and the destruction of a city (built specifically for the demonstration and uninhabited). They also bring forth a man, they claim that he is Jesus Christ and that he is in fact an alien/human hybrid, the second part of their experiment, they claim to have revived him after his execution and taken him back to their spaceship. They have returned to discover the results of their experiment, i.e how their intervention has affected us. I only want serious answers, despite the ridiculousness of the hypothetical situation I'd like you take take it as fact. For the purposes of this question there is no doubt that these aliens are the God of the bible. Also the aliens don't claim to have inspired any of the other religions. What would your reaction be to the elohim? Would you still believe in a heaven and spiritual God? Could there still be Abrahamic religions after such an event?

I would cry "foul" and buckle up for some hard times. Such a scenario would run counter to everything that I can read about the OT, and it isn't proof to be able to recreate something. So, basically, I would see something fishy going on, and it almost certainly wouldn't be good.
This sort of doubt would remain. There would be no way for me not to have doubt about it. I could not find the idea credible and would fear an onslaught of prelest.

Interesting No*s, I imagine many people would doubt them.
How about a bit more info on the aliens;

I understand waiting for more replies
.What you describe would have all the makings of a case of mass prelest in the modern times. Those are some pretty strong claims, and there are quite a few places where it simply doesn't mesh to me. Yes it would certainly be something I, and others, doubted .

Um, ok... i need to clarify something i think, I'd like you to imagine that the aliens are telling the truth, that the God depicted in the bible is not actually God but these aliens, so you can effectively throw the bible out the window as a viable source of info on God. Its difficult to do if you really believe in the bible, but this is a hypothetical...
Imagine that a few would still doubt (so No*s post is still ok) but 99.9% of people have accepted the aliens as telling the truth. Would you still believe in God?

. I, personally, came to believe in God, because of my Christian faith. If anything were to change, I would simply believe about Him, and leave it at that. I would have no way of knowing anything. Of course, I'd be a member of the .1% in such a situation .

First I would be suspicious of the name you chose. Elohim, Literally "gods" in Hebrew, Elohim is often used as the name of God in the Old Testament. The use of the plural form to describe the One God is explained as a "plural of majesty".
This is not HIS true name. These elohim, seraphim and the cherubim, they are God's creations also. They are part of the whole. I would accept their truth same as all the others, truth is always wrapped up in material world "drama"(for lack of a better term). Everything happens according to God's plan. But elohim is a part of God, not God. Welcome the "aliens" for they are part of God's plan. Do not fear, or hate or judge others for being different. Welcome to Planet Earth, we hope you enjoy the stay. |

i would believe it to a degree for i question everything. i do believe anything is possible and actually this idea has crossed my mind a thousand times before considering that et's are way farther advanced than us and this idea is quite possible. jimi hendrix once said angels in heaven, flying saucers to some. i thought it was quite philosophic and one to think about.
