I gave you an example of this a few post ago. I know you wanted to respond but I figured you were busy with others.

Let's see....

Beget = To procreate, generate, sire, spawn, breed, or father an offspring through sexual intercourse.

I don't believe that the Quran shows Allah with these attributes. This is why EVERY TIME JESUS IS MENTIONED HE IS REFERED TO AS THE SON OF MARY..

Bible = (SON OF MAN)...

Yakoona (he has been) lahu (to HIM) waladun (a Child - Son)...

It may appear possessive because it is taken out of context (away from the rest of the verse)

But it is descriptive and/or comparative. This is evident when you read all of it. Allah is being described to be the possessor all that is in heaven and in earth.

Example: Apple Pie, to me, is a thorn in my side.

Are you *litteraly* a thorn in my side? NO

But you are *figuratively*

This question has already been asked....Can you honestly look at all the other ayahs to PROVE that Isa Ibn Maryum is (Jesus is son of God)??

I don't think you can. Not even Arberry is in total agreement with you in his translations of the quran...and this is a "mainstream" scholar YOU sited.

Is it really hard for you to except that Isa was an apostle sent by Allah...and he may have been looked upon by Allah as a son.....Just like Adam??

4:171 (is classic)

O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Messiah Isa the son of Mary was an apostle of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His apostles. Say not "Three" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one god: Glory be to Him: he has been, To HIM, a child . To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

The problem with this verse is it's in ENGLISH and it sucks. Eglish screws up the arabic language when translated into english.

And this is why the Quran say:

9:30
The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!

Wow...Would it surprise you that the OT in various chapters and verses it repeats itself?

Would it surprise you that the NT...some verses are a copy of OT..

Let us not rule out the striking similarities in the Enuma Elish an Genesis.

Be carefull questioning anothers faith if you seem to lack the knowledge of your own.
I tend to think there is no refutation of Apple Pie's translation, if his lexicon is correct.
I agree with you DreGod07 that posession does not equate to begotten of God. For instance if a man adopts a child the child is his but not begotten by him.

Even the Biblical verse: "only begotten son" does not state that God is the begetter only that Jesus was begotten and that He belongs to God. Nor can you find anywhere in the Bible where God is the begetter.
