It kind of reminds me of the five years I spent in "la francophonie", one year of it in France. I called my family about once a week and described to them little chunks of my life. For hours I would try to explain the differences in culture and habit (and France vs. the US isn't that huge a leap !). You know, it took forever and at the end, I still didn't feel that they got it. I remember back in the US I met a girl who had also lived in France. With her, it was easy. I didn't even have to complete my sentences and she already knew what I meant.
That example is just a microcosm of how hard it is to describe a vision of god to people who have never seen it. For me they are so unlike any other form of thought or human experience that I am lost for words. I really think, unlike a foreign culture, it is impossible to fully explain a vision of god.
Yet when I talk to someone who shares the experience (say a pantheist), the conversation flows easily and I am pretty sure that we largely mutually understand. Sure there are things that are hard to explain, but in general it is so much easier.

What if two people had identical experiences,
But each had a completely different set of labels,
a completely different view of reality...
So their descriptions of their experiences
would on the surface be COMPLETELY different.
ie... if you "believe" in God
It will have been a beatific vision of God.
if you "believe" in phsycology
It will have been a beatific vision of Self.
If you "believe" in science
It will have been a beatific vision of the Universe.
Or a "beatific" vision of "chemical" origin.
or whatever.
I like the discussions your posts are bringing to the forum,
but I feel compelled to say straight out now,
that I truly feel you are trying to "box" & "label"
other people's personal experiences & descriptions
according to YOUR standards, beliefs, notions & understanding
instead of simply trying to Hear and UNDERSTAND them more deeply.
Unless there is something
I'm not understanding about your "study"
I see this only coming to the dead end of
your own reality construct.
EDIT: Perhaps your conversations go so well with Panthiests,
because you (we) share the same "language" & "construct".
