Seems to me that the one trait common to all extremists, is the unshakeable conviction that they are right, and everyone who disagrees is wrong and needs to be put right. So it doesn't much matter what their convictions are; it's the intensity with which they cling to them, which makes all such people equally dangerous.

To be worst one has to be wrong, at least according to a large group of people, and have power. Right now that still appears to be the MAGA crowd due to changes in law from the USSC. In another twenty years or even possibly less it will be the left.

My first thought was Westboro Baptist Church
But the more I think about it, I do not think they are.
I mean, they do not hide their beliefs and feelings.
They flat out tell you to your face they believe you are going to hell.
In my opinion I will say it is those who kill innocent people "for their cause".

Well, I am for all days for some moments of the day a +3, since I am neurodiverse.

I love these games. It's like asking me which presidential candidate is the worst.

An extremist Jain who thinks we are all wrong and need to be set right seems far less of a threat than an extremist Nazi.

Perhaps. But Nazi's are by definition extremist, simply by virtue of being Nazis. Not sure that's true of Jains, who don't really seem in the business of putting the rest of us right (however extreme they may be in their personal asceticism).
The danger to society at large comes when extremists use violence to impose their will on others, as for example Hindus, Moslems and Sikhs (but seemingly not Jains) appear to have done to each other at different times in India's history. At such times, religious fanatics become indistinguishable from Nazis.
Neofascist xenophobes.
I'd say post-modern Marxists (i.e. the woke), are running a close second.

Well, to me among the top ones are the rationalists with in effect reason, logic and truth/proof/evidence. And yes, that is not just religion that can have that.
